To My Fan(nigan)s and Fruitloops…

Monday, September 11th, 2006

Hi, nice to see you here again. It’s Monday morning and I’ve got a bit of time to myself again. Corey’s gone to kindie, Jasper the dog’s been fed and now snoring away in his new ’sofa-bed’, but not before he’s licked me to a pulp…

So with all the littlens out of the way I can sit at my laptop for a few minutes to write up what I’ve been up to…

I drove home right after the show on Saturday and had a sleep-in on Sunday…I’m allowed, ok! Then went online to read some of the forum messages and spy on the ‘opposition’, too… :-) With the weather being so nice and warm I spent most of the afternoon in the garden with my mum, step-dad, Corey and yes you’ve guessed it, Jasper… My arms are still hurting from throwing his balls and chewed-up dolls around, playing fetch, until I could play no more… It wasn’t long before Corey joined in not so much with the throwing but with the fetching. Somehow, he figured that he’ll get more attention if he gets down on his ‘fours’ and immitates Jasper. Luckily he did not go as far as sharing Jasper water-bowl but I guess that was only a question of time…

Have you ever tried to juggle your affection between a kid and a dog at the same time? Not an easy task… and it is a very, very wet affair, too…

Time flew past very quickly and it was time to think about tea…so, I told mum, I wouldn’t say no to a roast…and she obliged! It was a late one as we decided to wait for ‘Jay’ to come home from work, so did not sit down till nearly 8.30. But it was worth the wait! Mum, has delivered, yet again, bless her…It was a lovely meal and was nice to be able to sit down (with some adult company) and not having to rush either.

I blame it on a ‘hectic’ day but I guess the fact that we were well and truly ’stuffed’ also motivated us to an early night…We watch a bit of telly but then turned in and called it a day.

This morning I woke up to the ‘lovely’ sound of Corey crying again, trying to get some attention, anyone’s attention. He’s always the first one to wake up; I wonder why that is. Is it payback-time for all my evil deeds I’d put my parents through? Anyway, got up and got him ready for nursery, let him run around for a little time. He managed to find some time in his hectic schedule to ’sort’ Jasper out… it’s lucky that Jasper’s got such a lovely temper and not a snappy dog…I mean how would *you* like your ears and tail twisted in every possible direction just before you get a little finger or two up your nose? and all this before you had your breakfast and toilet run…

Anyway, the ‘oldies’ also got up and mum took Corey to the nursery, so that I could put my techie ‘L’ plate on and spend some time online. It’s amazing how much time all this ‘web-wizardry’ takes. I guess my dialup, straight-jacket, does not help much. I’ve uploaded some new photos to the site and it took forever… Even if everthing goes ok, I still have 2 weeks of this before I get ‘broadbanded’

Anyway, I hope you’ve had a look at the site. There are some minor changes to it, the most obvious one is the gallery page where I’ve started to categorise photos. I hope it won’t be too much longer before we have an option for you to add not only your comments/captions to the exsiting photos but you’ll be able to upload your pics, too.

I’m still waiting for your mug-shots for the banner idea; I’ve received a few from Kirsty. I’ll have to check the Forum to see if anyone else has managed to convince themselves that it might be a good idea to send me a photo or two… I’m quite excited about it and hope you’ll share my enthusiasm once we get something working.

Oops, I’ve just realised that I’m rambling on. It must be Jasper’s soothing snore… Right, gotta go and face the world shortly, so I’ll have a look at the Forum and then powder my nose… :-)

X, Suzy

Late night session

Friday, September 8th, 2006

I’ve spent a bit of time online last night, right after the show to see what was happening on the blog/forum. There is not much activity on the blog, other than me talking to myself :-), but the forum has exceeded all my expectations and it’s ‘a buzzing’.

It’s really good to see you all taking part and keeping the enthusiasm going.

I’ve tried to reply to as many posts as I could but, as I’ve said on the Notice Board, I’m struggling with dialup!!! The holy trinity (Tiscali,Orange and BT) have let me down and this frustration is approaching it’s 3rd month now…

I have to be careful how much time I spend online as I’m paying by the minute and at this rate I’ll probably have to signup with a cheap, dialup ISP until I get broadband (if ever).

I only spent an hour or so online as was really tired and still had a long drive ahead of me. Being so ‘close’ to Reading, I commute most days so I can spend a little time mothering Corey when he gets a little time away from his toys and garden hose and can fit me into his busy schedule :-)

I have some thougths on the forum banner issue and also on whether I should restore the old forum data to the new one. But I’ll talk about this a bit later, this is just a quick post really to say that I enjoyed being on the forum and chuffed with all the buzz and activity around the new forum and the site.

xxx,
Suzanne

Thank God It’s Sunday…well close enough

Monday, September 4th, 2006

Hi guys,

It’s actually Monday morning now but I did have a nice Sunday. Had a little rest with my mum and Corey while putting some ice on my swallen feet… It’s been a lovely break at home and even got a few friendly licks from Jasper, our dog…

I’ve spent a bit of time on the Forum this morning, trying to catch up but I’m sure I have missed some of your messages, I’m sorry. It takes a lot of time to do all the PM-ing and replying to posts but I’m really chuffed how busy the forum is.

I’ve noticed there are some technical issues some of you have noticed, I’ve taken notes of them but still getting used to being a sysadmin, it’s going to be a while before I can sort everything out e.g. the clock issue which is basically caused by the fact that the actual server is in the States. Anyway, we all have too many clocks and to be frank I hate clocks on websites. It has been removed since and it was only meant for ‘internal’ use anyway.

John (your previous, hard-working forum administrator) has redirected the old forum to the new one and I have thanked him for his work in the past, have also asked him for a backup of his forum so that I can try and put all your messages on the new forum. I’ll let you know how this goes.

Apart from a bit of quality family time and answering some of your PMs and posts, I have done nothing other than relaxing and trying to recharge my batteries…and it felt good.

However, nothing lasts forever, so I got to go and get myself ready ’cause the Reading week starts in a few short hours…

See you there,
Suzanne
